VPN AND NETWORK HARDENING

VPN & Network Hardening

VPN at the router, guest and point-of-sale traffic kept apart, and cameras that never call a vendor cloud.

Choose Your Setup

Whole-network VPN on business-grade routers, segmented guest and POS networks, and camera systems that never phone home to a vendor cloud.

Whole-home VPN at the router so every device is covered, plus hardened personal routers and camera systems that stay on your network.

SCOPE OF WORK

What's Included

Router replacement or reconfiguration

Business-grade gear that can actually do VPN, segmentation and firewall rules, instead of the plastic box the ISP dropped off.

VPN at the gateway

The tunnel runs on the router, so every device behind it is covered — including the printers, cameras and smart gear that have no app and never will.

Kill-switch behaviour

Configured so that if the tunnel drops, traffic stops rather than silently falling back to your bare connection. We test it by breaking it on purpose.

Network segmentation

Guest wifi, payment devices, cameras and office machines on separate segments, so a compromised tablet is not standing next to your register.

Camera & IoT containment

Firewall rules that stop cameras and smart devices phoning out to vendor clouds, while you keep access to them from inside.

Remote access done properly

If you need to reach your network or cameras from the road, it goes through your own VPN — not a port forward and not a third-party relay.

Firmware, passwords and logging

Default credentials gone, firmware current, admin access limited, and enough logging that a problem later can actually be investigated.

TARGET PROFILE

Who It's For

For Business

  • Shops taking card payments on the same network as the guest wifi.
  • Offices where a single flat network connects cameras, staff laptops and a public hotspot.
  • Businesses with staff or contractors needing remote access to internal systems.
  • Anyone running cameras or sensors that stream out to a vendor cloud by default.

For Home / Personal

  • Households that want VPN coverage without installing an app on fifteen devices.
  • Homes full of smart gear that chatters to manufacturers nobody vetted.
  • People on satellite, fixed wireless or DSL who need the setup tuned to a slow uplink.
  • Anyone who wants to reach their home cameras from the road without exposing them to the internet.

How a Job Runs

No guesswork and no surprise invoices. Every job runs through the same five steps, and you see what we found before you spend anything on hardware.

01

Assess

We map what is on your network right now, what talks out to where, and what your connection can realistically carry.

02

Propose

A written design: segments, VPN provider and placement, firewall rules, what hardware is needed and what gets reused. Expected throughput stated honestly.

03

Install

Gear configured and cut over with the downtime agreed in advance. Configs backed up and handed to you.

04

Verify

We confirm your traffic actually exits through the tunnel, break the tunnel to prove the kill switch holds, confirm segments cannot reach each other, and re-test remote access.

05

Support

Firmware and rule changes, new devices, ISP swaps. You keep the configs, so you are never hostage to us.

QUESTIONS WE GET

Straight Answers

Will a VPN slow my internet down?
Some, always — encryption and a longer path cost you throughput. On a rural connection the honest answer depends on your uplink and the router's CPU. We measure before and after and show you the numbers rather than guessing.
Why do it at the router instead of on each device?
Because the devices that leak most cannot run a VPN app: cameras, thermostats, TVs, printers, game consoles. At the router, everything is covered and nobody has to remember to switch it on.
Does the VPN hide what I do from everybody?
No. It keeps your ISP and the networks in between from seeing your traffic, and hides your home address from the sites you visit. It does not make you anonymous if you log into your own accounts. We will tell you what it does and does not buy you.
What is network segmentation and do I need it?
It is keeping groups of devices from reaching each other — guest wifi away from your register, cameras away from your laptops. If you take payments or host guest wifi, yes.
Can you keep my cameras from phoning home?
In most cases yes, with firewall rules that block outbound traffic while leaving local access working. Some models break or nag when blocked; we test and tell you which bucket yours is in.
What if my internet goes down entirely?
Local recording, local access and segmentation keep working — they do not depend on the internet. What you lose is remote viewing and notifications. We build so that losing the connection degrades the system instead of switching it off.
